Mechanics in the spotlight
The men in their smart racing suits could easily be misinterpreted as the racing drivers themselves by the layman who is only casually immersed in the world of motorsport. However, don’t be fooled. The real heroes behind the scenes are these supposed “supporting actors”. Not only dexterity is required, but also a high level of technical knowledge, quick decision-making and sometimes even nerves of steel. One NASCAR rally resulted in a remarkable accident caused by a mechanical failure – a faulty brake, to be precise. Several of these unsung heroes were thrown into the air by driver Brad Keselowski. Miraculously, no one was injured. We thank the mechanics!
